MC10 a healthcare technology company located in Chattanooga, Tennessee strives to improve human health by giving clients a new outlook on their health. The new design embraces the idea of renaissance, rebirth & change, by enhancing the human experience. A luxurious and refreshing environment was achieved by balancing vertical elements on the perimeter of the building, which accentuates the grandeur of the space, with lower and more intimate settings located at the heart of the building. The goal of the project was to design a dynamic space that supports and uplifts employees along their journey and growth within the company.

CONCEPT

Renaissance will inspire the design for the MC10 office. Renaissance refers to a fresh start, the rebirth of an individual. This will further inspire the design by making the future office a place where employees can seek new opportunities and goals. By enhancing the human experience with biophilic elements, an inspirational environment will be created. Technology will further enhance that journey by encouraging interactions between the employees through functional and easy to use features. The overall space will have a dynamic yet relaxed feel through the use of organic and rectilinear elements.

A luxury and refreshing experience begins as guests are greeted in the reception. A curved architectural feature behind the custom reception desk guides the visitors through the space. The warm wooden palette contrasting the lightness and elegance of the waiting area sets the tone for the space.

THE GRAND STAIR

LEVEL 2

The transition of the reception’s ceiling into the grand stair is crucial to the design and the story it tells. Between spaces of focus and spaces of rejuvenation, opportunities are created. MC10 is a growing company: therefore the stair represents the transition and growth of the employees within the company.

THE ATRIUM

LEVEL 2

Continuing the journey, visitors are greeted by a majestic photography. This picture taken by Peter Lik creates a peaceful environment and helps to bring nature in. The grandeur of the space is accentuated by the vertical glass panels delimiting the stairs. This piece also serves as a way-finding element as it can be seen from the upper floor. The seating area located next to the CEO’s office serves as a waiting area where vendors and  employees can prepare before a meeting

LA BARISTA

LEVEL 2

At La Barista, employees can take the time to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee. The coffee bar is adjacent to the reception, atrium, and CEO's office creating a meeting point for visitors. Privacy is achieved through the use of glass panels and wooden slats separating the space from main walkways. La Barista offers a warm yet dynamic setting. This is achieved using cool and awaking LED lights contrasted by the warmer tones of the furniture and custom coffee bar.

THE ATRIUM

LEVEL 3

Located at the center of the building, the Work Cafe offers a calmer

environment allowing visitors to eat, socialize, and work. The dropped ceiling as well as the warmer tones of the space give a more intimate and cozier setting. Collaboration and camaraderie are divided among a variety of bar seating and benches. By giving employees different options to work, they are able to concentrate and collaborate more efficiently in both planned and spontaneous ways.

CONFERENCE ROOM

LEVEL 3

The conference room promotes a private environment that seeks for professional discussions. The angled wall creates a dynamic environment leading to a more productive discussion. Pinup areas along each wall are available as well as a projector screen to facilitate ideas expressions and critical thinking. To minimize glare while presenting, electronic shades are available.

Collaborative areas are designed to be used for more informal settings. Employees may reserve a room prior to a meeting but are welcome to go inside to use as a workspace when available. They are located evenly throughout the space so collaboration can happen naturally and is accessible to anyone.
